FAQ

  • Are the courses graded?
    No, the courses are not graded. They are structured to spark curiosity and support the education efforts being done at home.
  • Does Launch Pad background check staff members?
    Safety and security of all students is important to us and that is why we require all staff to pass a US Department of Justice (DOJ) background check/live scan.
  • Are parents required to volunteer?
    No, parents are not required to volunteer. This is a drop off program. We expect that homeschool parents have a heavy workload and hope that you take this time for yourself.
  • What are the group sizes?
    The group sizes will range based how many sign up but will not exceed 32. Each group will be led by a staff member and may have an additional supporting staff based on activity.
  • Will homework be assigned?
    No. Homework is not a part of our educational philosophy.
  • Is Launch Pad a school?
    No, we are not a school. We are a recreation club for the homeschool community providing extracurricular activities that are best done in groups.
  • Is Launch Pad religiously affiliated?
    Launch Pad is a nonsectarian organization.
  • Is the staff fun?
    We're glad you asked! The foundation of Launch Pad is built on energized happy people who are passionate about sharing and introducing new ideas.
  • What about using cell phones and smart devices?
    Devices shall be kept in pockets or bags while at Launch Pad. Our goal is to improve communication skills, create relationships and build community. Smart devices impede this process.
  • What months does the program run?
    The main program follows the traditional school year. September to May. Other programs run through out the year in various coastal locations.
  • May I sign up my child after the school year starts?
    Yes, if space is available. We limit group sizes and once capacity is reached we manage a waiting list.
  • What grades levels can participate?
    Launch Pad offers courses for 1st through 12th grade. Participants are grouped with others in similar age. Groups are 1st-2nd, 3rd-5th, 6th-8th, and 9th-12th.
  • How long is the commitment?
    Formally it's a month to month commitment but we encourage staying in for a semester to allow for the full experience of activities and adventures.
  • What are the guidelines for participants?
    In order for participants to fully benefit from the courses they must meet minimum requirements. We've listed those requirements here. There is also a code of conduct that everyone must abide by while on campus. The code of conduct will be provided after your enrollment application has been submitted during the enrollment phase.
  • How long does each course run?
    Based on special days or regular days. Class time will be between 75-50 minutes. The participant will attend three courses each Friday afternoon.
